How to Make a Luggage Handle Wrap

Customize your bag with a luggage handle wrap. These neoprene covers help you pick your bag out of the crowd when it’s sitting at baggage claim or on the plane, plus they add an extra layer of cushion to the handle. They fasten around any Briggs & Riley handle and can be personalized with up to 9 letters.

Luggage handle wrap is a simple sewing project with an easy-to-read pattern and clear instructions. It’s an ideal beginner sewing project and is quick to stitch up in the hoop of your embroidery machine. It’s available in 6 quilted designs (all-over stipple, all-over diamond and all-over wavy) and an applique circle that can be fussy cut or monogrammed.

To make the wrap, you’ll need 1 piece of double-sided fusible foam interlining and a yard of fabric of your choice. Follow the manufacturer’s directions to fuse the main fabric and lining fabric to the front and back of the interlining, creating a double-sided piece with the lining on one side and the main fabric on the other.

Sew the attaching piece of Velcro to the underside of the design (against the 2nd fabric – mine is solid) so that it’s parallel with the straight lines you sewed earlier to attach the batting to the front (patterned) fabric. Place the Pocket across the bottom of the Wrap, Lining side up, and sew in place using 1/8″ seam allowance.
