Luggage Nightstand by Mitchell Michell

A luggage nightstand is a table that sits next to your bed and typically has drawers or shelves. They are often used to store medicines, a book or tablet you might need in the middle of the night, and even a clock. They can also hold lamps for reading in bed. Before indoor flush toilets became commonplace, nightstands were used to hold chamber pots. This is where the name “nightstand” comes from. In Europe, these tables were often called commodes.

This suitcase-inspired side table by designer Mitchell Michell combines both functionality and style, inspired by vintage travel luggage. The luggage-style table has two drawers and leather strap handles, reminiscent of old-world travel. It even has a built-in cord keeper and a place to plug in a power bank, so you can keep your phone or tablets charged while you sleep. The handle lights up just like a lamp to add an extra touch of fun and nostalgia.
